What would it look like if you allowed your heart to show?

This might

I don't have a lover
or even a man on my mind
but I have the breeze on my skin
and the moon in the sky
and I can hear a howl in the distance 
that tells me I'm not the only hungry thing alive tonight

The stars give me hope 
and tell me I'm not alone
as I connect the dots
of every constellation, they show 
that the world is in constant motion
and every seed knows what it needs to grow

How long have I been seeking 
a cage to contain me
I wonder as I open my arms to the wind
and remember how to be free
How long have I tried to please
people who just want to tame me

I don't belong in the world
I belong to the world
and everywhere the world belongs
if truth be told
and to myself as myself
unashamed, wild and brave and bold

I was trying to chase the light
but darkness was the mirror
that showed me my power
and made my light clearer
It's not my problem that the more I become the woman I am
the more others fear her
